 A question often asked by motoring enthusiasts is "What exactly is car valeting" and how it differs from a car wash. Allow us to explain:

Car valeting is the process of thoroughly cleaning a vehicle's exterior and interior whilst paying close attention to the little details. This means not just a quick bodywork wash, and a light polish of the paintwork but taking the time to first clean the bodywork using a good shampoo especially designed for this task and then removing surface imperfections such as light scratches, swirl marks and paintwork problems.

Car valeting is slightly different from car detailing. Whereas, valeting a car to a high standard requires a certain amount of skill and experience, car detailing demands yet further time and skill to get it right.

However, when detailing a car and achieve a 'just detailed' finish, its important to polish the paintwork before applying the wax. By removing paintwork problems such as light scratches, swirls and oxidisation, you can help the surface reflect light better which therefore enhances the results following a wax treatment.

Another example is in the case of cleaning wheels. During the valeting process, you would attempt to clean the wheels thoroughly using a variety of brushes that allow you to fully clean the wheel including the inner rim as well as spokes, wheel nuts and the back of the spokes. During the car detail process, we often remove the wheel and clean each one individually allowing the finish to be as good as possible. Once the wheel cleaning process has been completed, you need to protect the wheel using a durable sealant or a wheel wax such as Turtle Wax so that the wheel does not get corroded from brake dust bonding to the wheel alloy.
